In a room men reach into a box that is full of masks. The masks convey emotions such as fear, anger and rage. One of the most prominent features is that of a wall or window showing a twisted view of a street containing buildings. Among the buildings stands a Church. A figure to the right of the painting stares blankly outwards displaying no emotion.

The painting relates to the effect that violence had on Northern Ireland during the Troubles. The atrocities that occured have numbed the people into having to choose emotional masks to experience a normal life.
